Year 1 had an amazing time at Eton Musuem of Life at Eton College this term. They learned how life was very different at a rich Victorian School compared to the poorer schools we have studied in school. There were some similarities. Both schools used ink and quills. But at a rich school they slept there; this is called boarding. Boys still board at Eton College today.
In English, Year 1 have been writing a letter to reception. They gave some amazing advice and wrote about what we do in year 1. They also completed some fantastic Design and Technology learning, creating shelters and taxi's!
Kulraj - My shelter kept falling down so Zumar helped me. We used so much tape until it stood up.
Khatiba - It was fun to make a taxi. Me and Gurjas painted the taxi red and yellow and orange, We used sticks for axels.
We held our annual Arts Exhibition, with the focus this year on being able to enjoy arts activities together - with photography, music, drama and sketching activities on offer to have a go.
Samaira - My favourite was the colouring and the taking photos.
Haider - It was fun and I made music with the glass jars.
As you will know from previous newsletters we have invested in "Now Press Play" resources, which are headphones that can be used to support curriculum learning. We have been trying these out this term, in preparation for full role out in September.
Brielle - I enjoyed pretending and choosing the rabbit for mum. I learned to be kind.
Aayan - It was really fun. The best part was pretending to be at the fun fair and playing the games.
Our Year 2 children loved their wet, rainy day at the beach! We didn't let the weather stop us and enjoyed visiting the lifeboat station, playing on the beach, having a picnic (where some eagle eyed seagulls pinched a couple of sandwiches) and ate ice cream! This is the first time in 9 years we have taken children to the beach - it won't be the last!
Finally, Reception have been working on their plant knowledge and have been practising their sketching skills! They can now identify so many different plants, including gypsophila! Simply amazing.
