This has been such a busy term already! I am delighted to share with you that Miss Austin has been appointed as Interim Vice Principal. We both look forward to working with you all to continue to drive the school forward.
Year 2 and children from the Nest visited The Lookout, Bracknell this week as part of British Science Week and Year 1 are eagerly looking forward to their trips to Bekonscot Model Village in the next couple of weeks.
Staff work incredibly hard day in day out to plan and teach your children so that they can make excellent progress with their learning. However if your child is not in school they are missing their education and not learning - every day's absence has an impact. Please try, wherever possible, to ensure your child is in school every day. Please do not take children abroad during term time and put your child's education first. We understand that circumstances can be difficult at times however the impact on your child's education is significant and we would ask that you keep visits abroad to school holiday times (such as the upcoming 2 week Easter break).
Many thanks
Miss Jarrett
SAFEGUARDING
Parking
Over the last few weeks we have seen many parents parking dangerously, particularly on Devon Avenue. This puts your children at serious risk of harm. We remind all parents:
Yellow 'school-keep-clear' zig-zag markings outside schools - mean no stopping- not even to let out a passenger.
Parking further away from the school and walking to and from school is recommended to support children's active movement every day (and you will probably be more likely to find an easy parking space)!
Always park your vehicle with consideration for residents who live near schools and don’t obstruct their driveways or make it difficult for them to get to their homes. If the curb is lowered you should not park there as local residents need access to their driveways.
Be kind and thoughtful – it sets a good example to your children and other parents.
If you observe a vehicle being parked in breach of formal restriction e.g. yellow lines or residents parking, this can be reported to our Parking Enforcement Control Room on 01753 551018. The school will report vehicles if this continues as it is not safe for our children so please park safely in future.
What Parents & Carers need to know about iPads
This free online safety guide looks at iPads, the world’s most popular tablet computers. It highlights possible hazards including the risk of age-inappropriate content, physical damage to the device and potential screen addiction.
British Science Week
British Science Week is a ten-day celebration of science, technology, engineering and maths. This year's theme - connections!
We had a great week with lots of different fun science activities, including Year 2 and the Nest trips to The Lookout, Bracknell.
Wednesday 8th March was International Women's Day.
On Monday, Mrs Hester led an assembly on International Women's Day. We learned that our gender doesn't matter. We can be what every we want to be if we just work hard and do our best. Year 2 were able to share some amazing women, past and present, they have learned about, including Emmeline Pankhurst and Malala. Mrs Hester set us a challenge to find out about Sarah Al-Amiri who has been recognised for her contributions to science, technology and engineering.
